This piece was commissioned as a gift for the client’s father in law. He calls his bike the Black Pearl, so we decided to render the lettering in a “Pirates of the Caribbean” typeface.
To give it some extra cool factor, I decided to try something I’ve been wanting to experiment with for a while. Instead of my regular textured background, I gave the background a “sea of skulls”. Very pleased with the result. If you’re interested in using a similar technique on your own custom derby cover, let me know. I’d love to do another one like this!
